Recover Co. grew out of my own lifestyle, not a formal business plan. Early morning lifts, long shifts on the water, and the constant push to balance school made me realize how essential recovery is. Tools like cold plunges and sauna sessions helped me stay focused, feel better, and perform at a higher level. Over time, I started to wonder why students didn’t have easy access to these services. That question eventually became the inspiration behind Recover Co.—a venture rooted in my personal wellness journey and shaped through my entrepreneurship coursework at the University of Tennessee.
Connecting With the Community
As I talked to people on campus, a clear theme emerged: UTK lacks affordable and convenient recovery options. One student told me, “I’d cold plunge every day if I had the chance.” Hearing comments like that strengthened the idea. It also pushed me to research national wellness trends. Reports from the Global Wellness Institute (https://globalwellnessinstitute.org) and scientific insights from Huberman Lab (https://hubermanlab.com) showed that recovery services are growing fast and becoming part of everyday health routines. That confirmed there was real demand—not just curiosity.

Challenges and the Pivot Forward
The biggest obstacle came when I began planning the MVP. I originally wanted to offer everything at once: plunge, sauna, red light therapy, and stretching. However, startup costs made that unrealistic. Instead of abandoning the concept, I shifted to a phased approach. This pivot allowed me to focus on the most essential services first, gather feedback, and adjust the model as needed. That experience taught me that progress often matters more than perfection, especially when launching something new.
Values That Guide the Venture
Recover Co. is built on accessibility, performance, community, and wellness. These values reflect both what I’ve experienced and what customers told me they needed. The goal is to make recovery something anyone can participate in—not just elite athletes or people with premium gym memberships. I want to help create a healthier culture across campus, where taking care of your body and mind feels achievable for everyone.
Looking Ahead
The next 3–6 months will focus on testing and expansion. I plan to run a small pilot, strengthen the online brand, host a recovery pop-up, and continue interviewing potential users. Each step will help shape the final service lineup and prepare for a broader launch.
